Rising electricity demand, new regulatory requirements, and the pressure to decarbonize are fundamentally changing the role of buildings. With the revision of the Electricity Act and the introduction of Local Electricity Communities (LECs), the energy system in Switzerland is currently undergoing a fundamental transformation. In the future, buildings will be able to actively participate in and shape the energy system: they will become energy producers, storage facilities, and controllable systems.
